Sam Nogajski Brings up Milestone

Nogajski will stand in his 50th Domestic List-A match in the Final between Western Australia and South Australia. Nogajski’s first List-A match came in December 2010 when Tasmania played New South Wales in the Domestic One Day Cup match at the North-West Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Burnie. The following season, Nogajski made his First-Class umpiring debut in the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and New South Wales at the Gabba in Brisbane. Nogajski has gone on to stand in 62 First-Class matches including four Sheffield Shield Finals.

Nogajski was appointed to the Cricket Australia National Umpire Panel prior to the 2012-13 season. In July 2014, Nogajski travelled to Darwin to officiate in the Quad Series featuring A-Teams from India, South Africa and Australia, all List-A appointments. In August 2016, Nogajski was appointed to the Quad Series featuring the same teams in Mackay. Twelve months later, Nogajski travelled to South Africa to again officiate in A-Series matches and was subsequently appointed to the Final of that series between South Africa A and India A.

In October 2017, Nogajski made his One Day International debut when Papua New Guinea played Scotland in the ICC World Cricket League Championships series held in Port Moresby. Nogajski returned home to stand in his first Domestic One Day Cup Final, notably between Western Australia and South Australia at Blundstone Arena in Hobart. In January 2018, Nogajski stood in his first ‘home’ One Day Internationals during the Australia-England five-match series.

Nogajski was appointed to his second Domestic One Day Final when Victoria played Tasmania in the 2018-19 Final held at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. Nogajski has stood in the last four One Day International Series held in Australia and currently has a total of 10 One Day Internationals to his name. Today, Nogajski becomes the first umpire from Tasmania to stand in 50 Domestic List-A matches and remains second on the all-time tally of List-A matches by an umpire from the Apple Isle.
