Have Your Say! Child Safeguarding Surveys
Australian Cricket is working with Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Institute of Child Protection Studies (ICPS) to understand the:
safeguarding capabilities of volunteers in cricket; and
children's perceptions of safety in cricket.
The surveys will provide valuable data to help us prevent child abuse in cricket.
It is completely voluntary to take part and information regarding taking part, obligations and the ethics of the project are all included in the information sheet on the first page of the surveys.
Safeguarding Capabilities Survey (adult volunteers)
For coaches, committee members, child safety officers, umpires, cricket blast coordinators and general volunteers from affiliated associations and clubs.
The survey takes up to 15 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous and no identifying information is provided to us.

NB: please select ‘volunteer’ when asked about your role. The organsiation will be listed as your state association but respond to the survey as a member of your club/association.

Children's Safety Survey – for children and young people aged 10-18
The survey takes up to 15 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous and no identifying information is provided to us.
Parents must first provide consent for their child to complete the survey and provide an email address for the person aged 10-18 to receive the survey link.

Why work with Australian Catholic University’s Institute of Child Protection Studies?
ACU has established expertise in child protection, including a dedicated research unit, the ACU Institute of Child Protection Studies (ICPS). ICPS contributed ground-breaking research to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, examining children and young people’s views and experiences of safety in institutions. ACU also has an established record in development and delivery of safeguarding programs and courses to support institutions to create safer cultures for children and young people.
The ICPS have a unique offering for measuring safety in organisations – the Children’s Safety Survey and Safeguarding Capabilities Survey. These surveys help organisations gauge how safe children feel. They can also offer insights into their level of confidence in the ability of adults and organisations to respond to their safety concerns. Organisation can use the findings to help develop stronger conditions of safety for the children and young people you serve. The unique insights can support a stronger culture of safety that protects children and young people from grooming and sexual abuse.
ICPS have worked with a wide range of organisations across multiple industries, including Sport Australia.
