Cricket Australia would like to congratulate the November recipients of the Community Umpires of the Month award. Following the announcement of the October winners, the November group includes the first Emerging and Multicultural umpires being recognised.
The Male Community Umpire of the Month has been awarded to Andrew Tyson of the Adelaide Turf Cricket USA (SA). Andrew is a consistent senior and junior cricket umpire but also assists with umpiring or finding umpires to support school matches. This is the first SA recipient of an Umpire of the Month award.
The Multicultural Community Umpire of the Month has been awarded to Omar Khan of the Twilight Women's Cricket League (NSW). Omar's enthusiasm creates an experience that all participants enjoy being a part of. The support he shows means many players and umpires return year on year. Omar is the first recipient of any Umpire of the Month awards from NSW.
The Emerging Community Umpire of the Month has been awarded to Matthew Lloyd of the Metropolitan Junior Cricket Council (WA). Matthew recently had to deal with a challenging situation involving a coach. The calmness and professionalism he demonstrated was appreciated by both teams involved. This is the second recipient from MJCC after Ava Danholt was the October Female Community Umpire of the Month.
Andrew, Omar and Matthew will all be nominated for the Community Match Official of the Year. Congratulations to all three and thank you for your contributions to ensure cricket is played and enjoyed all over Australia.
December nominations are now open and if you know of an umpire who is contributing to their UA, association and/or community, you can nominate them by completing the nomination form here.
