Who is it for?
Social Cricket is designed for everyone! Whether you are new to the game of cricket, a seasoned player or returning from a few seasons away, Social Cricket offers a simplified version of the game, powered by the best parts of the game. The format is adaptable to various age groups and skill levels:
- Junior Social Cricket: For kids aged 9 to 12, with 60-minute sessions including 45-minute matches.
- Youth Social Cricket: For kids aged 13 to 16/18, offering a bit more competition while keeping the fun element alive.
- Senior Social Cricket: For those aged 16/18 and above, perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy cricket in a relaxed, social setting.
The game can be played by boys, girls, or mixed teams, making it an inclusive activity for all.
The Rules
- Teams: 6 players per team, with a minimum of 4 required to start a match.
- Overs: Each team plays 8 overs, including 2 Powerplay overs.
- Pitch & Boundary: Varies by age group, ranging from 14m to 16m pitches and 25m to 40m boundaries.
- Equipment: Players use a variety of balls (rubber, tennis, or tape) and bats (plastic or carbon fibre). There is no need for protective equipment in this game. Plus, all equipment is provided – all you need to do is turn up and play!
- Scoring: Special rules like the Double Scoring Zone can double points for hitting the ball through a designated areas along the boundary.
- Powerplay: During the Powerplay, selected batters and bowlers face off with additional scoring and wicket opportunities. Games can be won or lost during the Powerplay!
- Dismissals: Unlimited, with the bowling team earning 5 runs per dismissal. Traditional cricket dismissals apply, along with fun variations like "One Hand One Bounce."
