Cricket Australia would like to congratulate the January Community Umpire of the Month recipients.
For the first time this season, all four categories have recognised in the one month. The January recipients also sees the first umpire recognised from Tasmania.
Male category: David Powell (QLD) Mackay Cricket Association: David has been a huge contributor to Mackay cricket by making himself available to umpire across 5 different competitions, as well as maintaining a high level of contribution to the Association through meetings and support of other umpires.
Female category: Kylie White (QLD) Queensland Cricket USA: Kylie has been leading female initiatives across Queensland cricket. She coordinated a women & girls only Community Umpire Course and managed the umpire group who were engaged in the QLD Junior Cricket Under 13 Carnival.
Multicultural category: Amey Jambekar (TAS) Huon Channel Cricket Association: Amey has been supporting the growth of women’s cricket through his involvement in the HCCA T20 competition. He is the sole umpire each week in both matches fixtured all the while coaching one team who needed a coach.
Emerging category: Blake Richardson (NSW) Maitland & District Cricket Association: After being named First Grade Umpire of the Year in his first year, Blake has progressed to umpiring in multiple state and national championship competitions. He has also taken on additional responsibilities in appointments to help volunteer burden.
David, Kylie, Amey and Blake will all be nominated for the Community Match Official of the Year. Congratulations to all four and thank you for your contributions to ensure cricket is played and enjoyed all over Australia.
