CHILD SAFETY UPDATE

Just like a cricket match, we all have a role to play to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for our young cricketers. We’re pleased to share that the updated Australian Cricket Framework for Safeguarding Children and Young People has been launched!

The review of the Safeguarding Framework was guided by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and Sports Integrity Australia’s mandatory standards.

There are some key changes to the framework, including:

  • clearer definitions of who, what, when and how the Framework applies across all levels of Cricket and our organisations.
  • stronger language in areas where we ‘must’ observe requirements to ensure a safe environment for Children & Young People.

There’s a new home for Child Safety on Play.Cricket.com.au where you’ll find comprehensive resources - see the link below.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION

With the end of the summer season approaching, it is a great time to consider the best ways to reward and recognise volunteers. Some states and territories are still accepting nominations for their Community Cricket Awards.

Visit the link below to find out how you can nominate a volunteer or initiative from your local area.

Celebrate a volunteer!

UMPIRE RECOGNITION

Community umpires were invited to each of the men's and women's Test matches to participate in on-field walk during one of the session breaks.

Due to the nature of cricket, of the 6 Tests, only 3 groups were able to experience walking on the field - WA and VIC (x2). The Aussies wrapped up play too early at the Adelaide and Sydney Tests, while the weather interfered with the walk in Brisbane.

"Thank you for the invitation to be on field during the tea interval on the 3rd day of the Boxing Day Test. It was a special moment in my cricketing life!"

PROJECT INSPIRE

During the historic day/night Women's Ashes test match, Project Inspire delivered a two-and-a-half-day immersion workshop for 46 volunteers from around Australia as part of Australian Cricket's Women & Girls Action Plan.

The volunteers worked through workshops and activities facilitated by Belinda Clark and Chris Rubick, designed to build capacity in the next generation of women leaders, creating a community of changemakers who, with skill and passion, will inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Watch this space for further information about the projects these champions will deliver in their local areas!
