Smash Series Cricket FAQ
-
Smash Series was built from the love of backyard, street, tape ball, beach and gully cricket. The main rules include:
- 60-minute matches
- soft balls and modified bats
- smaller fields
- smaller teams
- everyone gets a chance to bat and bowl.
Full rules and variations are available through your program provider.
-
Just like backyard cricket, rules may alter based on where you play. This can include:
- team size (based on numbers)
- field size (based on location)
- competitive changes
- overs (based on numbers)
- backyard rules – one hand – one bounce, six and out and more.
-
You don't require any equipment! All bats, balls and stumps are provided by your facilitator. Simply get your active gear ready, a hat and drink bottle and play.
-
Not at all! Smash Series is open for new players to cricket, people who have played previously, the backyard cricket legend or current community cricket players.
-
Smash Series can be played almost anywhere. Programs may be played at local ovals, parks, basketball courts, indoors or even at the beach. Be sure to check out your local options.
-
Not for Smash Series. You can register as an individual and be placed into a team or register as a small group and be merged into a team. Junior non-competitive programs may alter teams each week.
-
No. Soft tennis and rubber balls are used in Smash Series, so participants don't need to wear protective equipment. Of course, if you would feel more confident wearing protective equipment, you're more than welcome to bring this along.
