Big Bash Schools Challenge FAQs

  • The Big Bash Schools Challenge is a fun & interactive curriculum-aligned cricket program designed to get Foundation to Year 2 students moving, learning, and loving physical activity— both in the classroom and at home. Here’s how the program works:

    1. Register your school - Start by registering your school via this website via the following link - Register Here. Once processed, you will gain access to the Big Bash Schools Challenge platform and be able to set up classes in minutes.
    2. Seamless Teacher Onboarding - Teachers are invited with a unique class code. They log in, claim their class, and are ready to deliver fun, skill-building activities — no cricket experience required!
    3. In-Class Fun, Every Week - Over four weeks, students take part in short, engaging activities during class time. Each week focuses on a new skill. All designed to fit into quick brain breaks, to align to literacy or numeracy to change the way your classroom learns or run in your physical education class!
    4. Home Engagement Made Easy - Teachers send invites home. Parents scan a QR code, help their child register, and unlock the at-home challenge — a gamified experience where kids earn XP, badges, and virtual gear.
    5. Track Progress & Celebrate Wins - Teachers and Ambassadors can monitor class and student participation in the at-home challenge in real time. Leaderboards, stats, and achievements keep everyone motivated.
    6. Big Finish, Big Rewards - At the end of the challenge, students receive certificates and celebrate their achievements. Whether they joined in class, at home, or both — everyone’s a winner.
  • Yes, the Big Bash Schools Challenge is a great way to integrate fun activities into teaching the curriculum. Use the challenge to boost your students literacy and numeracy skills while they bounce, catch and throw a ball.

  • Not at all! The challenge activities are a fun, easy way to introduce students to the fundamental skills of cricket. Plus, all activities come with suggestions on how to adapt them for different experience levels.

  • The Big Bash Schools Challenge includes a dynamic digital platform to make program delivery seamless, engaging, fun and measurable. Teachers gain instant access to weekly activity guides, instructional videos, and real-time class progress tracking — all in one place. Students and families can continue the fun at home through a gamified experience where they can earn XP, badges, and virtual rewards, reinforcing classroom learning. For schools, this means less admin, more engagement, and a powerful way to connect physical activity with digital learning — all aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

  • No, students don’t need individual devices to take part. Teachers can either display the challenge activity videos for the class or watch them beforehand and demonstrate the activities themselves.

  • Students need a ball for the activities. We suggest a stress ball, but if these aren’t available, schools can use tennis balls or other balls.

  • For Teachers:

    Reinforces Classroom Learning
The at-home activities extend skill development beyond the classroom, helping students consolidate what they’ve learned through repetition.

    Boosts Student Engagement
With gamified elements like XP, badges, and virtual rewards, students stay motivated and excited about participating — which translates to more enthusiasm in class.

    Supports Holistic Development
Teachers can see student progress outside school hours, encouraging a more complete picture of each child’s physical literacy journey and fostering stronger school-home connections.

    For Parents:

    Easy, Active Family Fun
The program offers simple, guided activities that families can enjoy together — no equipment or cricket knowledge needed.

    Encourages Healthy Habits
By making movement fun and rewarding, the challenge helps build a routine of physical activity at home, supporting children’s health and wellbeing.

    Connects Parents to School Learning
Parents get a window into what their child is learning at school and can actively support their development in a meaningful, engaging way.
