Cricket Australia National Match Referee Panel member Sarah Elliott made her KFC Big Bash League (BBL) Match Referee debut in the Melbourne Derby between the Stars and Renegades.
A former Australian international, Elliott played three Test matches—including a memorable Test century against England—alongside 22 One Day Internationals and 14 T20 Internationals. She was also part of Australia’s first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup–winning team in 2010 in the West Indies.
Domestically, Elliott represented Victoria on 118 occasions and was a member of the 2004–05 WNCL championship team. In the WBBL, she played 14 matches for the Melbourne Renegades and five for the Adelaide Strikers. She is the all-time leading run scorer at Dandenong Cricket Club and is a Cricket Victoria Life Member.
Off the field, Elliott has contributed significantly to the development of the game, holding coaching roles at Dandenong Cricket Club and more recently at Caulfield Grammar School. She is also a respected voice in the game through her work with ABC Radio’s cricket commentary team.
Last season, Elliott was appointed to the Cricket Australia National Match Referee Panel for the first time and has since officiated in the WBBL, WNCL and State Second XI competitions. Internationally, she recently served as Match Referee during the Women’s A Series between Australia A and India A in Queensland.
Elliott will became just the 19th Australian Match Referee—and the sixth from Victoria—to officiate in a BBL match.
