2025–26 Technology & Media Initiative of the Year

Cricket Australia is proud to announce Rockingham Hornets Cricket Club (Western Australia) as the winner of the 2025–26 Technology & Media Initiative of the Year Award, recognising an inspiring, club‑led digital transformation that has strengthened connection, engagement and participation across the community.

Award Winner: Rockingham Hornets Cricket Club (WA)

Rockingham Hornets Cricket Club has been recognised for a forward‑thinking technology and media initiative led by Zoe, whose vision has completely reshaped how the club connects with its members and the wider community.

Historically, the club’s digital presence was limited to a basic Facebook page used primarily for notices. Identifying that this approach was no longer reaching younger audiences or fully showcasing club life, Zoe led a comprehensive transformation of the club’s media footprint. In addition to revitalising Facebook, she launched and now manages Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts, all featuring daily, engaging content that captures matches, moments and personalities from across the club.

A key innovation was Zoe’s advocacy for investment in technology. With committee support, the club purchased three FrogBox units, enabling the live streaming of six matches every weekend. Using LilyPad, Zoe curates highlights and clips from these streams, delivering high‑quality content across all platforms while significantly reducing the reliance on volunteers to manually film or report on matches.

Her impact extends beyond online channels. Through sponsorship support she helped secure, TV screens were installed in the clubrooms, allowing live games, sponsor messages and curated media to be displayed on matchdays. These upgrades have enhanced the atmosphere at the club, strengthened sponsor value and created a more professional, welcoming environment for players, families and visitors.

The initiative has transformed how the Hornets community stays connected. Members unable to attend matches—whether due to work, distance or travel—can now watch games live, maintaining a strong sense of belonging. At the same time, the automation of live streaming has reduced volunteer workload, allowing people to focus on participation, community and enjoyment rather than administration.

Remarkably, Zoe has delivered all of this while working full‑time, supporting the Blasters program, captaining the club’s A‑grade women’s team and regularly playing in B‑grade cricket. Her leadership highlights the power of technology to modernise club operations, engage new audiences and build stronger community identity.

Highly Commended: Megan Maurice – Summer Hill Cricket Club (NSW)

The judging panel also awards high commendation to Megan Maurice of Summer Hill Cricket Club (New South Wales) for her excellent contribution to technology and media at community level. Megan’s work was recognised for enhancing communication, storytelling and engagement within her club, strengthening connection between members and the wider community.

Cricket Australia congratulates Rockingham Hornets Cricket Club on this outstanding achievement and thanks Megan Maurice and all nominees nationwide for embracing technology and media to strengthen clubs, celebrate participation and connect cricket communities in new and meaningful ways.
