What is the Grassroots Cricket Fund?

The Grassroots Cricket Fund (GCF) was established in 2019 by Australia’s professional cricketers to strengthen grassroots cricket for generations to come. The GCF ensures the cricket clubs and indoor centres throughout Australia gets the investment it needs to support those who help drive grassroots cricket and bring communities together.

The GCF is a partnership of the Australian Cricketers’ Association and Cricket Australia, working to together to help drive this vital program and grow grassroots cricket.

We are excited to introduce the Community Grants Program for the 2024/25 season, which aims to empower clubs and centres like yours to excel in promoting cricket within your local communities.

GCF GRANTS PROGRAM

The GCF Grant Program’s focus is on enabling sustainable impact and fostering participation growth in the junior space. Consequently, grants will now be targeted towards implementing programs that maximize this impact.

From Monday, 26 August (12PM AEST), the 2024/25 GCF funding program will open for six weeks to support clubs and indoor cricket centres to prepare for the upcoming season and to help make them even better places to play the game.  The round closes on Sunday, 22nd September (11:59PM AEST), so be sure to have your applications in prior.

Frequently Asked Questions

  •  Clubs, associations, councils, schools, facility managers or any other organisation with a role as a user or manager of a community cricket facility.

  • Your relevant state or territory association will announce when they are opening the ACIF for applications.  Applications are submitted via an online form. 

  •  Projects must be focused on growing cricket participation and/or providing welcoming and inclusive environments for all participants. Typical projects include the construction or refurbishment of pitches, ovals, practice facilities, change rooms, pavilions and supporting infrastructure.

  • The ACIF does not support:

    1. projects that have already commenced*,
    2. sporting equipment (e.g. stumps, balls),
    3. routine maintenance or maintenance equipment,
    4. temporary facilities,
    5. projects not focused on community cricket,
    6. projects that can be covered by insurance,
    7. previously funded facilities (unless a new facility component), and
    8. facilities with no/limited public access.

    *The ACIF does not generally support projects that have already commenced construction, however, should circumstances require prior commencement (e.g. the facility has been damaged and requires immediate rectification works) it is recommended applicants contact their State or Territory Infrastructure Manager (or equivalent) to discuss project eligibility. 

  • Please contact your State or Territory Infrastructure Manager (or equivalent) to discuss how they may be able to assist you to develop your project or seek other funding opportunities.

  •  The ACIF has two grant categories relating to the amount of the funding request: 

    1. Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund - Minor:  $0 - $15,000 
    2. Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund - Major:  $15,001 - $40,000 

    *Applications for more than $40,000 for multi-faceted/regionally significant projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

  •   Each State and Territory Association will announce when their ACIF program will be open for applications.  Please visit your State or Territory Association website for further information:

    All projects submitted to the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund must align with the  Community Cricket Facility Guidelines 

  • For further information on the eligibility criteria, please refer to the ‘Grassroots Cricket Fund - Grant Guidelines’, available on the website grassrootscricketfund.com.au.

    Grants of up to $3,500 are available, and a quotation must accompany requests for this amount. Requests lacking a corresponding quote will not be granted.

  • Filling out the form should take no longer than 15 minutes however you are also required to gather quotations to include in your application

  • Yes, where applications include goods or services from a supplier, applications must, include official supplier quotes.

    All successful recipients of the grant will be required to fulfill the acquittal requirements which will include proof of payment.
